Action Saturday 21st January 2012

1 day, 5 projects and 30 volunteers!

Love Streatham volunteers worked alongside staff and children at Streatham Vale Adventure Playground to transform the youth centre with very bright colours chosen by the children themselves.

Manager Naomi Meade said:

' The enthusiasm from the Love Streatham team really helped the young people engage in the painting project. The  volunteers worked happily alongside the children meaning we got the playground painted as a team and finished off having had a really amazing day! '

'I just loved seeing the children dressed in their protective black bin bags, pot of bright orange paint in one hand, brush in the other standing on top of the counter painting round the window. It was such a funny sight - they were having so much fun!'

Elsewhere, we decorated the flat of a local young woman…

(….and after.)

We also sent teams to three local people who needed help with gardening.

'I'm just in shock that there are great, good, kind people in this world that can help others, especially when they are strangers.

They worked so hard, very very very hard, they even broke the branches in small little pieces and made my neighbour's garden in a better condition as well. A Big thank you to those men once again. I'm absolutely still speechless.'

Donna (a grateful garden owner!)

We'd love to hear from you if you would like to be part of our next Action Saturday (Saturday 17th March) or if you have ideas for individuals or charities that might need help.
